SITA Barometer Survey 2025

What do exporters and investors really think about doing business in Suriname? To answer this, the Suriname Investment and Trade Agency (SITA) commissioned a comprehensive study to track the “pulse” of our economy.

What is this report?
This report is a detailed analysis of two nationwide surveys and in-depth interviews conducted between August 2024 and April 2025. it features feedback from nearly 200 companies ranging from small local exporters to large international investors on their expectations for growth, profit, and the general business environment.

Why does it matter?
Understanding the real-world challenges businesses face is the only way to create better policy. This report identifies:

  • The Optimism: Why business confidence rose significantly following major offshore oil and gas milestones.

  • The Barriers: Clear data on structural issues like bureaucratic delays, inflation, and high interest rates.

  • The Opportunities: High-potential sectors like tourism, agriculture, and ICT that are ready for regional expansion.

As we launch our third survey round in March 2026, these findings serve as the essential baseline for our ongoing dialogue with the government to improve Suriname’s competitiveness on the world stage.
