VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT - SKILLS COORDINATOR

The Suriname Investment and Trade Agency (SITA) is at the forefront of strengthening Suriname’s economic position by attracting investment and expanding trade opportunities. The agency plays a central role in connecting Suriname to the global market while supporting the growth and competitiveness of local businesses.
In support of its expanding operations, SITA is seeking to recruit a qualified and motivated individual within the Trade Department for the position of SKILLS COORDINATOR.

The Skills Coordinator will provide comprehensive support to the Trade Department, ensuring efficient coordination, development and implementation of national skills development initiatives aimed at strengthening the workforce and aligning skills with needs of priority sectors. The role contributes to enhancing human capital and supporting sustainable economic growth in Suriname.

Key Responsibilities
The candidate will be required to:
• Coordinate the development and implementation of skills development programs and initiatives
• Liaise with relevant ministries, training institutions, and private sector stakeholders
• Support alignment of training programmes with labour market and sectoral needs
• Assist in planning, monitoring, and evaluating skills development activities
• Contribute to policy development and strategic frameworks related to skills development
• Prepare reports, briefing notes, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
• Support stakeholder engagement and coordination activities
• Monitor progress and provide updates on skills development initiatives
• Perform any other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Education, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in skills development, training coordination, workforce planning, or a related area
• Experience working with government, international organizations, or development projects is an advantage
• Strong understanding of labour market dynamics and skills development frameworks

• Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English and Dutch required)
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
